There's nothing quite like too much to do to cause a stress pile-up -- is there? -- and nothing like a stress pile-up to degrade our ability to get things done. It's an endless cycle. Stress impairs ability and impaired ability leads to stress. No wonder we get bogged down.
As someone who, since 1990, has worked professionally in the field of stress relief, I've seen a lot of stressed-out people -- and I've been one, myself, at times, so I know what it's like. There's nothing like going through a prolonged rough patch in life to get us motivated to find relief. That's what happened, to me.
In answer to what I saw (and see) as a pandemic of stress, I developed a framework, for Balanced Intelligence that almost anyone can employ when stress piles up. In the time of a short reset-break, the mind clears and thinking gets more lucid. The emotions come rest and natural creative intelligence comes forward. Things get done more easily when the mind is freed of overload.
The Balanced Intelligence (BI) framework disarms stress at the root -- at the subconscious level, upstream of the symptoms of stress, where stress-triggers live. The advantage? Immediate relief. The long-term advantage: we go into stress reactions less deeply, get over them more quickly, and handle situations, better, overall.

This approach avoids the "traffic jam" created when intentions conflict with stress-patterns that resist change.

Conventional Strategies for Escaping Stress
• Managing Symptoms: Many conventional approaches aim to help people manage stress or gain insight, but they don't necessarily dissolve the underlying tangle.
• Fighting Resistance: Methods like affirmations try to work around a negative state by replacing it with a desired, imagined outcome without first dissolving the resistance, leading to friction and wasted energy -- similar to pushing on the accelerator pedal and the brake simultaneously, while steering in a new direction.
• Trying to "Fix" Thoughts: Most people try to "think their way" out of stress or distress, which often just doubles down on the overactive mental machinery creating the trap.
This is why BI is explicitly stated as not being therapy, mindset work, positive thinking, or motivational coaching; it's direct intelligence training. Mindsets, thought patterns, and motivation change automatically.
The distinction is crucial: conventional methods often involve a continuous effort to impose a preferred state over a troubled one, while Balanced Intelligence involves a precise process to dissolve troublesome patterns entirely, allowing your natural state of intelligence and clarity to operate spontaneously, when you face what are otherwise repetitive challenges.
Think of it this way: If your car keeps veering to the right, conventional methods might teach you to white-knuckle the steering wheel and resist the pull. That's analogous to breathing techniques or positive affirmations to help you counteract stress that pulls you off-course. The Balanced Intelligence approach restores alignment by adjusting the underlying mental mechanics in minutes, and allows the car (your mind) to go where you want it to go without constantly monitoring and correcting.
